e.g rule 110 contains a CA for rule 110 - machinnes that encode themselves

turing machine vs 1 dimentional.

representation of movement as a dimention - diagrams

why is time 1 directional.
what is the law that natural selection implies in trems of physics - is it really maximizing the adjacent possible (I doubt this is enought).
Things that live on boundary between negative and positive feedback loops will tend to be: around for longer? nope - but perhaps more resilient to change - there has to be a reason or rule here
Fluid dynamics - turbulent flow actually provides the dissipation of energy in the most efficient way.

‘Things’ in nature are more like whirlpools than the water that flows through them. i.e. structures a virtual entities through which ‘real’ things like particles flow - this has a name like the washington ship paradox?

torus vs sphere - scaling issues for dimentions

formal representation of natural selection via CA.
inheritance (rules and iteration), constrained system (? - existance of other systems), variation (rules can change)

(nb noise will create variation - so iterative systems will provide their own variation if there is noise)

Although somewhat circular - causality does not itself imply a dimension which has one ‘direction’ - so what stops things flowing backwards and why can’t more than one dimension behave like this?

A turing machine can represent a CA like rule 110 fairly simply, so there are relatively few steps from the notion of causality (which enables the turing machine itself) to a turing machine which itself creates universal turing machines.
