Saving the birthplace of the web

I wrote to Tim Berners Lee to ask him to confirm exactly what room he worked in and setup the world’s first web server, at CERN, in order to try and preserve it. It turned out that the existing plaque at CERN was not only in a different place, but in a different country, as CERN straddles the France/Switzerland border. After several years of trying, a plaque is now outside the original room.
